1.         Call Meeting to Order

 

1.1       In the absence of both Co-Chairs, the meeting was called to order by Treasurer, Marv Copeland. MOTION by Roy Fenwick, seconded by Jack Dyck, that Marv Copeland chair the meeting.  CARRIED.

 

            Committee members were requested to sign the attendance sheet and roundtable introductions were made.

 

2.         Adoption of Agenda

 

2.1       MOTION by Marv Fried, seconded by Jack Dyck that we adopt the agenda as presented   CARRIED.

 

3.         Adoption of Minutes

 

3.1       MOTION by Jack Dyck, seconded by Roy Fenwick to adopt Minutes from previous meeting. CARRIED.

 

4.         Treasurer’s Report

 

4.1        Marv Copeland presented the Treasurers Report. Current bank balance is  $9332.65. It was noted that $8470.00 of the balance are funds Inter-Agency are holding for CESA, leaving an actual Inter-Agency bank balance of $862.65. Marv advised the audit for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008 as well as the Registered Charity Information Return have been completed.  Marv reported briefly on the Funders Forum he attended in Winnipeg on September 16, 2008.   MOTION by Roy Fenwick, seconded by Carol Hunter that the Treasurer’s Report be accepted as presented.  CARRIED.

 

5.         Sub-Committee Reports

           

5.1       SUCCEED - Lori Ann Munro

            Lori led a discussion on a weekly newspaper article opportunity under        Community Links. MOTION to move forward with the project by Tammy          Zaretzky-Denischuk, seconded by Deborah Burnside. CARRIED.

 

5.2       CESA - Marv Fried

            - Rec'd funding from Justice Dept

            - experiencing some delays to establish Counsellor

            - met as a committee, re-organizing hiring strategy

            - using Tara's Vision - will provide itinerary and supervision

            - short term pilot project until Mar. 2009

            - will submit for funding for a further year

            - hopeful to have someone in place shortly

            - CMHA is offering facilities for Counsellor to meet with clients

            - Nov. 6, 2008 is next meeting - will decide on hiring.

           

            "Stop Sex with Kids Campaign" will launch Nov. 13, 2008  - 9 am to noon.

            - hand out literature, posters

            - health facilities, library to be a target point

 

5.3       FASD - Donna-Jean Slack (report by Marv Fried)

            - goal for next meeting is to re-establish the focus of the committee

            - FASD training scheduled for Feb. 2 & 3, 2009 at SVRSS

            - open to the public, service providers, teachers.

            - limited space - advise Donna-Jean of intent to attend

 

5.4       Better Beginnings - Sharon Glasscock (report by Lori Ann Munro)

            - Shake rattle and roll - 8 week session - 14 kids

            - National Parent Coalition - 5 people attending EDI presentation.

 

5.5       Homelessness Initiative - Marv Fried

            - Progressed into final stages - proposal sent to Services Canada - on its way to     Ottawa.

            - Blue prints in place, Project Manager in place,

            - Gone through tendering process - Thursday deadline - Friday tenders will be         selected and contractors notified.

            - Most are local contractors - may create winter employment opportunities

            - Awaiting start date from Service Canada.

 

5.6       Triple "P" Parenting - Deborah Burnside

            - Met Sept. 24, 2008 with Lorene Fulham, Provincial Coordinator

            - started media campaign

            - groups organized to facilitate sessions

            - Nov. 25, 2008 - host information session in MPR room (name collecting -              sign up sheet)

            - all schools have level 3 training

 

5.7       High Risk Youth Steering Committee - Carol Hunter

            - Committee meets annually - was involved in the development of                              SUCCEED - looked at gaps - last meeting was Feb. 2008.

            - Next meeting scheduled for Feb, 12, 2009

 

 

6.         New Business

 

            6.1       Addictions Awareness Week - Tammy Zaretzky-Denischuk

                        - Tammy reported on the scheduled activities for the upcoming                                 Addictions Awareness Week.

 

            There being no further business, the next meeting was scheduled for Jan. 6, 2009 @ 4 pm. MOTION to adjourn by Roy Fenwick - seconded by Leona Rausch - CARRIED
